Please write “DMCA Notice” in the subject line so the message is routed correctly. Email is preferred over postal mail because it lets us timestamp receipt.

Elements of a Valid Takedown Request

An actionable notification needs all six of the following. Notices missing any element may be returned for correction rather than processed.

1. Sufficient detail to identify the protected work — a title, registration or first-publication information, or a representative sample where the claim covers a collection.
2. The precise location of the disputed material: the specific page address on this index, or the .onion path when the listing points elsewhere. A general complaint about “your site” cannot be investigated.
3. Your full name, postal address, telephone number, and a working reply-to email.
4. A statement that you hold a good-faith belief the complained-of use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
5. A statement made under penalty of perjury that the notice is accurate and that you own the right or are authorized to act for the owner.
6. Your physical or electronic signature.

If Your Listing Was Removed

Contributors and site operators who believe a removal resulted from mistake or misidentification may file a counter-notice at the same address. It should identify the material removed and where it previously appeared, include a statement under penalty of perjury explaining the good-faith belief that the removal was erroneous, provide your contact information, and consent to the jurisdiction of a federal district court for your address (or, if outside the United States, any judicial district where this service may be found). We forward valid counter-notices to the original complainant and may restore the material within 10 to 14 business days unless we are notified that a legal action has been filed.

How Quickly We Reply

Complete and well-documented notices are normally acknowledged, and where warranted actioned, within 5 to 10 business days of arrival. Complex claims involving multiple onion addresses or archived pages can take longer, and we will tell you when that happens. Correspondence that is incomplete, anonymous, or unrelated to copyright falls outside this process and may receive no response.
